The following is a brief description of our operation and the services we provide for our customers. We assist customers with setting up a cost effective, viable program that will enable them to recycle the largest amount of material possible, while keeping in mind the possible space constraints and logistics of each individual operation. Being the most diverse company in the industry, we are able to provide you with the most cost effective solution for the transporting and possible storage of your material. We also provide you with all of the equipment needed to accommodate your recycling program.
Some of the various pickup methods and equipment we utilize include: front and rear load outside containers, roll-off containers, compacting containers, balers, trailers, buggies, baskets, gaylord boxes, totes, pallets, and a complete line of equipment engineered and customized for your application. All materials generated are picked up with the appropriate vehicle. Once the materials arrive at our facility, the vehicle is unloaded and the material is weighed and graded (with the exception of outside container service, where the material is graded and the weight is estimated on-site). The material is then taken to the appropriate storage area and staged until it is loaded on to a sorting line. It is then separated by a combination of mechanical and manual processes to segregate the material into specific grades (these grades are separated by material quality and properties).
The material is then stored in bunkers. From the sorting line bunkers, the material is loaded onto very large in-floor conveyor systems by means of manned Skid-Steer loaders (or large bunker doors that are opened). These conveyors are monitored by trained personnel that assure all material is properly separated and graded correctly. The large in-floor conveyor systems feed several fully-automated baling units that compact and band material together into roughly one ton (2,000 lbs.) cubes that are referred to as "bales".
Trained forklift operators remove the bales from the end of the baler extrusion chamber. These operators inspect bales for quality, then weigh the bales and tag them with the appropriate information. The operators record all the material on inventory sheets and store the material in properly designated rows in our warehouse.
These bales are then marketed and shipped to different mills throughout the world. Depending on the feedstock needed for the material being produced at the particular mill, the current market and supply and demand of the material can fluctuate (these are all variables that affect the current market prices). After the proper mill is distinguished, the transportation is then scheduled and the material is loaded onto the vehicle to transport it to the mill.
Various modes of transportation are used to ship these commodities, such as tractor-trailers, container ships, or rail cars. Once the commodity arrives at the mill, the material is used as a feedstock to produce many of the products consumers use on a daily basis. Some basic examples of the various products are: cups to cans, carpet to car parts, towels to tissues, and glass containers to glassphalt. Although too numerous to list, these recycled products are far too important to be forgotten, so please don't forget look for products with that small print that says "made with recycled material". And always remember to take that next step and complete the cycle by recycling.
